Kel’s Soothing Eczema Cream (100g Batch)

Phase A (Water Phase) - 50%

  • Aloe Vera Juice – 40g (40%) (Hydrating & soothing)
  • Colloidal Oatmeal – 5g (5%) (Anti-inflammatory & itch relief)
  • Glycerin (Vegetable-Based) – 5g (5%) (Humectant to lock in moisture)

Phase B (Oil Phase) - 30%

  • Shea Butter (Unrefined) – 15g (15%) (Rich in fatty acids & healing)
  • Jojoba Oil – 7g (7%) (Mimics skin’s natural sebum)
  • Borage Oil – 3g (3%) (High in gamma-linolenic acid for inflammation)
  • Emulsifying Wax (Olivem 1000 or Polawax) – 5g (5%) (To blend oil and water)

Phase C (Cool-Down Phase) - 20%

  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol) – 0.5g (0.5%) (Antioxidant)
  • Chamomile Extract – 2g (2%) (Calming and anti-inflammatory)
  • Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) – 2g (2%) (Skin barrier support & hydration)
  • Calendula Extract – 2g (2%) (Healing & soothing)
  • Preservative (Geogard ECT or Optiphen) – 1g (1%) (Prevents microbial growth)
  • Essential Oil (Lavender or Tea Tree – optional) – 0.5g (0.5%)

Method:

  1. Heat Phase A: Dissolve colloidal oatmeal in aloe vera juice, then add glycerin. Heat to 70°C.
  2. Heat Phase B: Melt shea butter, jojoba oil, borage oil, and emulsifying wax to 70°C.
  3. Emulsify: Slowly pour Phase A into Phase B while blending with a stick blender until creamy.
  4. Cool Down Phase: Once the mixture cools to below 40°C, add the ingredients from Phase C. Stir well.
  5. Packaging: Transfer into a sanitized jar or airless pump bottle. Store in a cool, dry place.

Shelf Life: ~6 months (with proper preservation)
